Thames Social Climbers at Thames High School Gym

June 18, 2014 from 7pm to 9pm
Thames Social Climbers is a group of Thames locals who get together to climb. Mostly indoors but sometimes outdoors. 2 qualified rock climbing instructors can teach you the basics or let you loose on the wall if you know whats up. 21 routes of varying grades betwixt 11 and 21. All equipment provided but we ask for $5 if using the schools gear. This $ goes back into the rock wall. Sometimes 2 people show up, sometimes 15. Come for a laugh and a climb. See More

KAUAERANGA MUSIC - "Legal Tender" at Kauaeranga Hall

January 24, 2015 from 7:30pm to 9:30pm
LEGAL TENDER ========= Kauaeranga Music's first gig is on Saturday 24th January. And if the weather behaves we will look to make this an outdoor gig. The Legal Tender Band was born in Wellington ( NZ) in 19...73 as a duo, Ian Campbell & Steve Thompson and later that joined the NZ Breweries Pub circuit for a year before heading for Australia to find "themselves". (That term seemed to mean something back then, now?). Obviously they did. The acoustic line-up for 24 January is Ian Campbell…See More

Great news for Solar (2):

Peak Oil again in news - Nature magazine article. follow link: Co-author David King is former science advisor to UK government.

The idea of ‘peak oil’ — that global production will reach a peak and then decline — has been around for decades.  The true volume of proven global reserves is clouded by secrecy; forecasts by state oil companies are not audited and seem to be exaggerated. The notion that oil is produced by the earth - abiogenic oil - is largely discredited.

BEWARE THE TRANS-PACIFIC PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT!

Should we be concerned about the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA)? Click link for news.

If these secret negotiations succeed [the only documents in the public domain have been leaked] they will create a mega-treaty across nine or more countries that puts a straightjacket on the policies and laws our government can adopt for the next century and give massive new powers to corporations.

Thames residents may be sitting on a gold mine

There is an application to prospect for gold underneath the town pending approval.

The application by Zedex Gold [application 53981 - purple on map] was lodged with the Ministry of Economic Development on October 4th 2011.
